The following policy and guidelines are designed to ensure all faculty, staff, and students have access to consistent information on copyright in accordance with federal law. Kent State University is committed to supporting teaching, research, learning and nonacademic operations in the advancement of the University’s educational mission.
The Image Library of the School of Art will acquire and make available images in accordance with the United States Copyright Act of 1976 as amended, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act of 1998, and the Technology, Education and Copyright Harmonization Act of 2002, unless licenses or agreements exist which allow for exceptions. Collection development and usage policies have been designed in accordance with the Educational Fair Use Guidelines for Digital Images, developed by CONFU: Conference on Fair Use, as well as the Image Collection Guidelines of the Visual Resources Association in its efforts to comply with United States copyright law.
All users of these resources and materials are expected to follow the standards outlined in the University's copyright policy and supporting guidelines. Kent State University faculty, staff and students may use these resources for educational use only. Reproduction, distribution, downloading, copying, or publication of images may be subject to restrictions.
